Cards

My inspiration

When I was living in Japan, I was constantly surrounded by deliberate and thoughtful craftsmanship, from architecture to food and everything in between. Name anything, and you can probably find a specialty store with somebody painstakingly designing and oftentimes handmaking the product. I used to love spending entire afternoons exploring large crafts & hobbies stores like Tokyu Hands and Loft, or strolling around creative neighbourhoods filled with local artisans such as Daikanyama and Urahara. These were the places and people who provided inspiration to my card making journey.

My work

While I have sold cards before (and am still open to doing so), I prefer making cards for people I know because I'm able to personalize them for the person and for the occasion. That's why I love card making — It's easy to buy a card and write your own message, but it feels extra special if you're the only one who owns that card in the whole world.

I love using different embellishing materials (paper, foam, yarn, felt, ribbons…), techniques (embossing, letterpressing, engraving, wax sealing…), and even "paper" types (cardstock, vellum, wood…) to create one-of-a-kind cards. I've also designed front and back covers for "card books" where multiple people can leave messages.
