Who am I?
Hiya! My name is Leanne and I'm a Canadian from Vancouver who has lived in Hong Kong, Belgium, Japan, Singapore, and am currently based in Toronto, Canada. I'm curious about a wide range of things, and this site is going to help me catalogue my journey in exploring most of them.

My day job
At the moment what pays the bill is my job as a data analytics Program Manager. I love my job because I get to help make sense of scrappy and chaotic environments while bringing others along on the journey so they can continue to sustainably function even after I'm done putting structure in place.

Startups
Speaking of sustainability, I work a lot with startups globally, because I believe that if we are to make any outsized improvement for the world, we have to fail and scale fast (responsibly). I love supporting startups that are specifically working towards one or more of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

Education
And SDG #4 (Quality Education) is one that I tend to gravitate towards, because I believe that educating current and future generations is key to amplifying our positive impact on the world. That's why I regularly mentor students and also actively work with a Cambodian NGO school.

Space
I'm also very passionate about space, and I have been involved with a space imagery mapping program. Fun fact, I was a candidate for an astronaut program but was sadly rejected after round 2. In the meantime, I appreciate space through astrophotography.

Food
I love to cook and to eat. I did a short program at a culinary school and am always experimenting with my cooking. I enjoy learning about different ingredients, techniques, and styles around the world, though I try to source ingredients locally to minimize my carbon footprint. I could probably eat more healthily though!
Nature
Being from Canada, I love the outdoors! Going hiking or camping offers me an opportunity to ponder philosophical questions like "how will humanity evolve?" Toronto doesn't have good hiking or camping options so as a substitute, I like to dogsit and surround myself with plants.

I'm a self-taught designer and crafter who design and create amigurumi, earrings, greeting cards, macramé, leathercraft, and an ever-expanding list of things. I love mixing different techniques and mediums together to create something unique!
