Who am I?
Hiya! My name is Leanne and I'm a Canadian from Vancouver who has lived in Hong Kong, Louvain-la-neuve (Belgium), Tokyo (Japan), Toronto (Canada), and am currently based in Singapore. I'm curious about a wide range of things, and this site is going to help me catalogue my journey in exploring most of them.
My musings
What do I do?
With 20 years of experience in Finance, HR, and Tech industries, I am now a fractional Chief of Staff / Program Manager in the social impact space. I love being a generalist, connecting people and ideas to amplify results while putting structure in place especially in scrappy environments to enable sustainable and meaningful impact.

Impact Organizations
Speaking of impact, I regularly advise start up founders, NGO leaders, and SME managers around the world in the areas of Leadership, Strategy & Operations, and Growth Scaling. I'm curious about the intersection between technology and compassion, and am particularly interested in the effective altruism framework.

Education
I strongly believe that education is the foundation for fostering and furthering a learning mindset, enabling individuals to collectively realize their potential towards creating a future that humanity can be proud of. I have been actively supporting an NGO school in Cambodia called Green Umbrella since 2016, and also frequently coach students to help them with skills and career development.

Space
I'm also very passionate about space, and I have been involved with a space imagery mapping project. Fun fact, I was a candidate for an astronaut program but was sadly rejected after round 2. In the meantime, I appreciate space through astrophotography.

Food
I love to cook and to eat. I did a short program at a culinary school and am always experimenting with my cooking. I enjoy learning about different ingredients, techniques, and styles around the world, though I try to source ingredients locally to minimize my carbon footprint. I could probably eat more healthily though!
Nature
Being from Canada, I love the outdoors! Going hiking or camping offers me an opportunity to ponder philosophical questions like "how might we live in harmony with each other and with nature?" Besides spending time outdoor with my dog Lea, I also love to surround myself with plants at home.

Craft
I'm a self-taught designer and crafter who mixes different techniques and mediums to create something unique. My primary methods are crochet and hand embroidery, though I also do metalsmithing, leathercrafting, and an ever-expanding list of things!

And there are so many other topics that I love and ponder about on a daily basis, from board games and gardening to reading and traveling, all the way to contemplating about human behaviour and psychology. Welcome to my journey!
